The Magic Shop
Magic items that make their way to the Demiplane of Conflict eventually end up at the magic shop. Items lost in The Arena are confiscated by the Master of Conflict, and periodically recycled. Over the centuries, a great store of magic items has been built up, especially of the common and uncommon varieties, and are made available for purchase to characters based on their level of membership at the magic shop:
1 - Any common or uncommon non-alchemical item from Tables A-E (DMG 144-145)
2 - A random item from Table F (DMG 146) or rare item from Tables A-E
3 - A random item from Table G (DMG 147) or a very rare item from Tables A-E
4 - A random item from Table H (DMG 148) or up to two very rare items from Tables A-E
5 - A random item from Table I (DMG 149) or a legendary item from Tables A-E
Each level of membership constitutes an additional magic item being available for purchase by a character. Thus, a character of the third level of membership will have made available a random item from table G, a random item from table F, and any common or uncommon non-alchemical item of his choice. In the event that an item involving planar transport or an alchemical item is rolled, the result should be re-rolled, as alchemical items are bought at The Alchemist, and planar transport items are unlikely to function properly in The Arena. Rolls are made for each character present at the magic shop during a downtime session.
Characters who spend their downtime elsewhere may not offer to contribute to any purchases, or ask for third-party purchases. Only characters present at the magic shop may participate in the purchase of magic items.
Prices for magic items are based on their rarity as follows:
Common - 100 gp
Uncommon - 500 gp
Rare - 4,000 gp
Very Rare - 20,000 gp
Legendary - 100,000 gp
Scrolls follow a different price structure, as follows, based on level. Their rarity is as specified in the DMG:
1st - 50 gp
2nd - 250 gp
3rd - 500 gp
4th - 2,500 gp
5th - 5,000 gp
6th - 15,000 gp
7th - 25,000 gp
8th - 50,000 gp
9th - 100,000 gp
Prices are non-negotiable. The magic shop will purchase magic items at half price. Scrolls may also be bought and sold at the The Alchemist. Of note, characters without magical storage devices may carry up to 10 potions or scrolls at once.
